Community guidelines

Last updated: 20 August 2026

A BookGlot club is a small group of people meeting on video, weekly, for weeks at a time — closer to a recurring class than a one-off call. That format only works if everyone can trust the room. These guidelines apply to students and tutors alike, and sit alongside our Terms of Service.

Show up, or say so

Your cohort is counting on you. If you can't make a session, let your tutor know — a club that drops below its minimum viable size affects everyone in it, not just you.

Be respectful, in sessions and in writing

No harassment, hate speech, personal attacks, or discrimination — in a live session, the discussion threads, or reviews. Disagreeing about the book is fine and expected; attacking a person for their level, background, or opinion isn't.

No recording without everyone's consent

Don't record, screenshot, or otherwise capture a session's audio or video — including with your own phone or a screen recorder — unless everyone present has agreed. What's said in your club stays in your club.

Keep discussion on-topic and spoiler-aware

Discussion threads are for the book and the language, not self-promotion, solicitation, or spam. If your club reads at different paces, flag anything past the current week's chapter as a spoiler.

Leave paying-off-platform out of an active season

If you and your tutor build a genuine relationship, that's a good thing — we just ask that students don't pay a tutor directly to bypass BookGlot for the same teaching while a season you've already paid for is still running. See the tutor agreement for the equivalent commitment we ask of tutors.

Reviews should be genuine

Only review a tutor you've actually studied with, and base it on your real experience. Fake, incentivised, or retaliatory reviews get removed.

If something's wrong, tell us

If another member or a tutor makes you uncomfortable, or you see a guideline broken, contact support@bookglot.com. We review reports and act proportionately — a first-time misunderstanding gets a conversation, not a ban; repeated or serious breaches can lead to suspension or account closure.
